Frequently Asked Questions

Confidentiality

Your personal information will be kept confidential and will not be shared without your consent. The only exceptions to this are where disclosure is required by UK law, or where there is a serious and immediate risk of harm to you or others.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is an opportunity to begin focusing on what matters most to you, and to discover what you would most like to achieve from your support. We can explore your concerns, discuss your best hopes, and work together to design an approach that will support you to make and maintain change.

How frequently will we meet?

I usually recommend weekly sessions to begin with, as this helps build momentum and establish a strong foundation. We will then review and agree on a schedule that best suits your needs during our work together.

For example, some therapy clients prefer weekly or fortnightly sessions over a period of six to twelve weeks, while others choose longer-term, open-ended support. For supervision and coaching, many supervisees and coachees find monthly sessions to be most effective.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions you may need is guided by your individual goals, needs, and preferences. We will regularly review your progress together and reflect on what feels most helpful for you. This allows you to make informed, confident decisions about the length and direction of your support as we go along.

Do you offer face to face support?

At Distinct-Minds, all of our support is delivered online, allowing you to access sessions from the comfort and privacy of your own space. This approach makes it easier to fit support around your daily life, while still receiving the full benefit of personalised care.

What is my approach and philosophy?

My approach is pluralistic, which means I draw on a range of therapeutic and coaching methods, recognising that different approaches may be helpful at different times. I believe the most effective support is shaped through open dialogue, where we explore your preferences and tailor the work to your individual needs and goals.

My practice is relational and collaborative, with sessions co-designed alongside you. It is also informed by contemporary, evidence-based research to ensure the support you receive is both responsive and grounded in current understanding.

Isabel, MA Counsellor.

“Chris has a lovely way about him, giving us space to speak and allowing us both to be heard. His ability to reflect back what we have said (and where needed to cut through straight to the heart of the matter), helped us learn and understand ourselves and our dynamics in new ways. We gladly recommend Chris.”
